Surgical instruments are the weapons of veterinary surgeons. Besides using them, they should also learn the correct maintenance methods.
1. Knives, scissors, sewing needles, etc. belong to sharp edge instruments, which need to be sharp when used. The storage and disinfection must be separated from the ordinary instruments, so as to avoid mutual collision, which will blunt the sharp edges and affect the operation or hurt the instrument assistant when taking and placing the instruments.
2. After each operation, the instruments must be carefully washed and cleaned. Do not be careless when washing. The cleaning of hemostatic forceps is mainly to clean the clots and tissue fragments in the tooth bed. It is not allowed to clamp hard and thick objects with hemostatic forceps, so as to prevent the forceps head from being over stretched and unable to be used. It is also not allowed to clamp iodine tincture cotton balls and other sterile cotton with hemostatic forceps.
3. After the operation, all instruments should be washed with clean water, wiped dry and preserved. Infrequently used or stored instruments shall be oiled, placed in a dry place, and regularly inspected for oiling. The adhesive products shall be dried in the air and applied with an appropriate amount of talc powder to prevent adhesion and aging.
4. It is forbidden to burn and sterilize metal instruments with flame in non emergency situations. In order to avoid high-temperature annealing, loss of necessary strength and impact on service life.
